One favorite solution comes from a third party application. Dropbox provides 2GB free storage that is automitacally synchronized among all your computers and on remote servers of Dropbox. This safe, fast and robust. By using the above link, you will get an extra 500MB of free storage. For even more free storage, link your dropbox to your twitter/facebook account. One drawback is that your files are copied on Dropbox servers. If that bothers you, simply encrypt sensible datas or don't synchronize those with Dropbox.

SSH Mount
The package sshfs lets you mount a remote volume from anywhere through assh access. Together with the front engine osxfuse (previously known as Macfuse), it provides a very convenient solution that works both from office and home.

Install both oxfuse and sshfs from the webpage FUSE for OS X.
In order to mount the remote volume, write into a terminal:

sshfs login@remote_address:remote_folder local_folder-oauto_cache,reconnect,volname=volume_name

Synchronization
A remote folder can be synchronized to a local one using rsync command.

To backup a remote folder: rsync -auz -vv -e ssh login@remote_address:remote_folder local_folder
To export a local folder: rsync -auz -vv -e ssh local_folder login@remote_address:remote_folder
One can also exlude some file by adding --exclude "pattern" between the source and the destination

Top iTunes Tips !

1. Get the horizontal traffic lights back
Although it was an admirable attempt at better utilizing the available space, Apple’s decision to vertically stack the close, minimize, and zoom buttons is just too radical a change for many people to accept. The argument is that it’s completely inconsistent with the user interface guidelines Apple themselves created. So, if you’d like the horizontal traffic lights to return, simply run this command in Terminal (Applications > Utilities) and restart iTunes:

defaults write com.apple.iTunes full-window -1

To go back to the vertical traffic lights, replace the -1 with -0 and run the command again.

2. Play media from any iPod, iPhone, or iPad

Let’s say a friend came over and you wanted to listen to his iPod’s music on your computer. When it was connected you used to have to disable automatic syncing. Even then, an iPhone or iPad wouldn’t play its content when plugged into iTunes. iTunes 10 opens this feature up to all iDevices and doesn’t require turning off syncing. It just works – with movies, TV shows, & podcasts too!

3. Artwork music player

You know how you can click on an album’s cover art in the lower-left corner of iTunes to enlarge it? In iTunes 10, it’s not just for show – they’ve built playback controls into it. You can even close the main iTunes window and use the artwork viewer as a mini player.

4. Get the old Album view back
One of the features highlighted by Steve Jobs when he introduced iTunes 10 was the new Album view, which only shows cover art when an album has 5 or more songs. If the album has less songs, it doesn’t waste the space with extra vertical rows. Don’t worry, though! If you’re longing for the old Album view, you can still get it back. Go to View > Always show artwork and it’ll be like nothing ever changed.

5. Sync specific albums and genres

iTunes 10 offers more advanced music syncing choices, allowing users to sync selected albums and genres in addition to the existing artist and playlist options.

6. Remove checkboxes
If you’re one of those people who never utilized the checkboxes in your iTunes library, you now have the option to remove them. It’s a nice way of taking back horizontal space. Just go to iTunes > Preferences in the menu bar and uncheck “Show list checkboxes” under the General tab.

7. Remove source icons
Do you hate the monochrome icons in iTunes 10′s sidebar? While some have resorted to hacking the old colored icons back into the software, there is another option. Under the General tab in iTunes Preferences, you can uncheck “Show source icons” and get rid of them entirely.

Get iTunes track notifications in your Dock

In Lion there is a cool hidden setting to enable “Now playing” notifications that appear from the iTunes icon in the Dock. Every time a new song starts, a small popup containing the artist and the song name appears and then slowly fades out after a few seconds.

To enable this, start by opening Terminal (located in Applications/Utilities), then paste in the following line and press Return.

defaults write com.apple.dock itunes-notifications -bool YES

For the changes to take effect, the Dock has to be restarted. The easiest way to do this is to type killall Dock into the Terminal and press Return. If you change your mind and want to disable the notifications, repeat the above commands, but replace YES with NO.

For those of you who have your Dock set to hide when not in use, you’ll notice that when the Dock is hidden the iTunes icon is added to the notification. If you want the icon to show even when the Dock is not hidden, just use the following command in the same way as above:

defaults write com.apple.dock notification-always-show-image -bool YES

As before, remember to restart the Dock with killall Dock for changes to take effect.

It’s not entirely clear why this setting isn’t present in the iTunes preferences. It might still be under development — there is still room for improvement. For example it would be better if it included the album artwork like Bowtie, Growl and DockArt already do. It could also be a sneak peak of future plans Apple has for a notifications framework for all apps in Mac OS X, much like Growl provides at the moment.

Rename Files and Folders

You can change the name of most files, folders, and disks in the Finder. You can’t rename your home folder (the one with your name on it).

Important: There are some things youshould not rename:

Application folders and any items that came with your system (such as the Library folder).
Filename extensions—the period followed by two or three letters you see at the end of some filenames (for example, .jpg). If you change an extension, you may no longer be able to open the file with the application that was used to create it.

Select the item you want to rename and press Return. Note: The items in the Finder window sidebarare aliases. To change the name of a sidebar item, locate theoriginal and rename it.
Type a new name for the item. You can use numbers and most symbols. You can’t include a colon (:) or start the name with a period (.). Some applications may not allow you to use a slash (/) in a filename.
Press Return.

If you change the name of an installed item (such as an application) and experience problems, change the name back. If this does not help, you may need to reinstall the software.

Mouse-Free Folder Moves !

Try opening and closing folders with the left and right arrow keys instead of double-clicking.

One of the best tricks for speeding up your computer work is to keep your hands on the keyboard, not the mouse.

It’s not a macho, anti-mouse thing, but a simple matter of efficient motion. Using the mouse or trackpad means moving your hands off the keyboard, locating the cursor, making your move, and then shifting your hands back to the keys. If you can skip these steps, things tend to go faster.

There’s no better example than navigating folders within Finder windows. You can select, open, and browse folders from the keyboard for greater speed and less multi-window clutter.

Test it out yourself: In Finder, open a new window by pressing Command-N. To view the folders in List view, press Command-2. (Command-1 lets you view by Icons, while Command-3 changes the view to Columns.)

In List or Columns view, choose a folder that contains several subfolders, and open it by pressing the right arrow key. You can move up and down between folders or documents by pressing the up and down arrow keys. Close folders (or navigate backwards, if you’re in Columns view) with the left arrow key.

When you’ve located the file you want, speed your work even more by opening it with Command-O instead of double-clicking. In most Mac applications, you can close the file again by typing Command-W.

Once you’re accustomed to navigating through folders and files with key commands, you may be surprised by how fast you can move around, mouse-free, on your Mac.

Set Search Priorities in Spotlight

With Spotlight, the powerful search function built into Mac OS X Leopard, you can quickly find anything on your computer: files, folders, emails, applications, even calendar events. And to help speed your searches even more, you can specify which types of data Spotlight should list first when you type in a search term. This is useful if you tend to search for certain items, such as documents or Address Book contacts, more frequently than you search for things like applications or system preferences.

To customize the order of your search results in Spotlight, open the System Preferences menu under the Apple icon, then click on Spotlight. A list of search result categories appears. You can rearrange the order in which Spotlight lists these types of data by simply dragging the category names up or down in the list. If you’d prefer Spotlight to ignore any of these categories during searches, just uncheck the box beside that item.

Does your Mac qualify for free 10.8 upgrade?

Here is a simple chart to determine if your Mac qualifies for a free Mountain Lion 10.8 upgrade.
You will need to know your exact purchase date of your qualifying Mac.
10.8 was released July 25th, 2012

In simple terms, you either need:

A qualifying 10.7 Mac purchased on June 11, 2012 to July 25,2012, then you have until Friday, August 24, 2012 to upgrade to 10.8 for free.
Bought a qualifying new 10.7 Mac on or after the July 25,2012 which you then have 30 days to request a free 10.8 upgrade from the date of purchase.

Can I use apps from the Mac App Store on more than one computer?
Apps from the Mac App Store may be used on any Macs that you own or control for your personal use.

Do I need to sign in to use an app?
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password the first time you use an app. You won't have to provide them again unless you use the app on a different computer.

If I have already downloaded an app from the Mac App Store, can I redownload it for free?
Yes. You can redownload apps from the Mac App Store as long as the app remains available. You may be asked to enter the Apple ID and password you initially used to download the app.

What is the Mac App Store refund policy?
If you experience a technical issue with an app, first contact the developer of the app for assistance. Their support contact information can be found on the app's page in the Mac App Store. If that does not resolve the issue, contact Mac App Store Customer Support.

How do I back up my purchases?

To remove an app from the Dock, drag it out of the Dock. This does not remove the app from your Applications folder. To re-add it to the Doc, drag is from the Applications folder back to the Doc.

Are app updates free?
Updates for apps from the Mac App Store are free. Updates will appear in the Updates tab of the Mac App Store when they are available.

How will my personal information be used?
